I’ve recently been lucky enough to re-connect with some families that I have known since I started my first portrait business 14 years ago. As I reflect back on my years as a portrait photographer, I am thankful that I have built many relationships with many amazing people.
I was recently photographing a long-time client at their home. Their children are now 13 and 15, but I first photographed their older daughter when she was a very young child, and their son when he was just a baby. When I was at their home for this recent session, the mom showed me some of the framed artwork they had hanging around their home from those early sessions. It was really special to me to see artwork that I created featured prominently in their home. These images give them joy – a constant reminder, a trip back in time – to a special place in their lives. A place that contains all kinds of memories – the little things – that they don’t want to forget.
I’m going to share a few recent images from a session with a different family. Their oldest daughter was one of the first kiddos I photographed – when she was around a year old. She is now 15! I’ve photographed this family through the joys of adopting a child, and the unimaginable lows of loss. I’ve helped them document their story, and it is a joy for me to see it unfold and be a small part of it.
These people definitely have a special place in my heart. ❤️
